This site combines art history and a detective mystery to present art as a body of knowledge. The Case of Grandpa's Painting is like a 1940's movie, and it entirely depends on the choices you make as the story unfolds. You'll learn lots and be surprised at how much you already know. A must see.

COLORING.COM - http://www.coloring.com/
Activity: Choose a picture, color it, and then show your finished ART to the instructor. This is an example of an interactive coloring page. It redraws the picture with the new color added. You can  create an account and save your picture to this site, or save your finished picture to a disk or the hard drive as an image file. Import the image into your favorite paint program and print it on a color printer. Another use would be to include it in a project report. A new feature is an anime picture category. You can even send them your work.

TURN DOWN THE SOUND! This interactive website which starts with music,  is designed to offer kids the virtual experience of working with clay and fiber crafts.  Kids can build a virtual face jug, coil a pot, create a crazy quilt, weave a wacky wardrobe and much more.  The site also includes brief video clips of actual kids doing the crafts for real.  This site is tons of fun and a great introduction to traditional clay and fiber crafts (pottery, quilting, basketry & weaving).

These planes are designed to fly! They are not meant to be models of real planes, and they are not meant to be pretty display models. (In fact they really fly much better if you don't decorate them!)  Unlike the common schoolyard 'dart' designs, these planes are designed to have have lift; if you throw at a point on the ground about 10 feet away — they will fly up.

KidsArt is a great site for creative art ideas (note the current wallpaper activity). The Quick Art ideas and the Top Ten Lists of links are enough to make this site worth bookmarking,. And, the ArtMap USA is a great way to bring in geography to your art instruction.

This is from Marilyn Brackney's  Imagination Factory website.  The rain stick is a percussion instrument made from a dried cactus branch. It originated in Chile, South America where tribesmen have used the sticks for centuries to serenade the gods in hopes of bringing rain. You can make one too. New and improved, I love this site which creates colorful spiraling fractal designs based on the movement of my (your) mouse. Change the effects by moving the mouse or resizing the brush. You can even put it on Auto and watch as the mesmerizing lacy designs create themselves.
